I am running for mayor in the city of Cambridge because we need to take this city back to basic issues. I am concerned that our tax dollars are not being channeled to best suit the needs of our citizens. In the past three years, much too much time and money has been focused on Drayton Theatre, the City Hall glass link, and the Biennale Exposition.

We need to address the needs of our seniors, our children, our youth and all tax payers. We need leadership in our city to maintain our central services and to direct our tax dollars back to our basic municipal needs.

I am committed to keeping the identity of Cambridge, however we also need to work constructively with the Regional Government. Baby Boomers are now retiring and we must identify their needs and identify facilities to serve their needs. Our youth and young children should have more facilities, like indoor swimming pools, playgrounds and sports fields. We need to work with our provincial leaders to provide programmes for good health in our city, like the much needed Stroke Out patient rehabilitation program. We will continue to partner with our businesses and the University but we should open the door to include other resources like Conestoga College, to look for creative ways to improve the quality of life for all Cambridge residents.

My first priority for our tax dollars is to maintain our city infrastructure, our roads, our sewers and our water supply.

We need to get back to servicing the needs of the many, not just the wishes of the few. Together we can build our future on a solid foundation.
